The BUSINESS CASE offer for the Middle Market

Our definition of the Business Case

A Business Case is a study, carried out upstream of a Cloud transformation project, which describes and justifies the merits of this project. It is aimed at the company's key decision-makers and is intended to convince them to launch the investment. It allows to evaluate the profitability of the future transformation, must clarify the added value and show the benefits.

The main questions addressed are: What trajectory? What timeframe? What conditions for success? What costs and investments?

In conclusion, the Business Case provides the necessary answers for the success of the IT department's transformation while offering solutions to the business departments to increase their competitiveness.

The characteristics of our Business Case offer

At ScaleSquad, we propose a pragmatic study (one month's workload maximum) on 2 aspects: the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the IT department's operational performance on the one hand, and the path of the Cloud transformation on the other. This opportunity study is approached from both qualitative and quantitative angles

qualitative analysis

This analysis is performed using the IT Maturity Model (based on ITIL), which includes 40 questions, to better understand the project objectives and to provide a 360-degree view in a very short timeframe.

We deliver an assessment of the operational performance of the IT department in support of the business, its capacity to transform and the calculation of the transformation trajectory

quantitative analysis

In the case where the ISD opens its account book to us, we perform a quantitative analysis of the ISD's RUN

Staffing vs. scope: productivity, infrastructure volumes vs. your needs, understanding of IS complexity, analysis of IS obsolescence with risk mitigation.

deliverables

A swot highlighting the major risks in terms of governance, cloud maturity, technical risks and their mitigation.

A short/medium/long term recommendation file with key opportunities.

An Infrastructure budget file proposing a reasoned transformation trajectory towards the Cloud, with modeling of the decrease in TCO in RUN at ScaleSquad, and the calculation of the associated ROI.

These services are delivered under commitment, from start to finish: from business case to RUN.

Advantages of our Business Case

We are pragmatic engineers, our years of experience in Cloud Transformation, and our regularly updated skills have given us certainty on the feasibility of these transformations:

The Cloud is hybrid and the transition is timed by the transformation of the business application portfolio,

The promises are kept and the level of maturity of cloud providers and automation solutions allow a reduction in costs, a reduction in time to market and an improvement in the quality of service,

Several delivery models will have to coexist to meet the challenges of agility, stability and acculturation, and success will depend on change management and its implementation.

We will transfer our knowledge to you and produce simple deliverables that can be used directly by your IT department and your business. And all this to help you build your optimal and global Go2Cloud path to convert into a business opportunity.

Example of a business case for a sports organization

For one of the largest French sports organizations, we conducted a business case including a double qualitative and quantitative analysis.

Our client's IT department wanted to have an external view on the optimization of its infrastructure resources as part of its Go To Cloud (GTC) strategy, particularly on the points of financial analysis of the various possible trajectories and the operational risks and opportunities in the medium to long term.

Based on our feedback and interviews within the IT department, this analysis focused on the TCO of the infrastructure layer (excluding build and applications)

Qualitative Analysis

Operations

Governance

QuaNtitative analysis

The objective here was to evaluate the Capex / Opex productivity of the IT department in comparison with companies of similar size and complexity in insourcing or outsourcing mode. We used the same metrics / benchmark as in our business assessments.

  • Internal: Too many "internal" staff while RUN is outsourced (3.5 -> 2 H/C)

  • External: cost of managed services too high vs. volume

  • Compute, high but peak related to Go2Cloud transformation and globally obsolete hardware

  • Stockage, OK mais obsolescence et Taux de charge 3PAR élevé mais OK (Env 78% , reste< 80%)

  • Network, OK

  • Heterogeneity and diversified technologies but part of the Go2Cloud transformation plan

  • On-Prem share largely virtualized

  • SaaS strategy for finance/HR
